The JEE Main 2019 Paper 1, Shift 1 Set 2 (S2), conducted on 8th April, was one of the multiple sets released by NTA for that particular session. This paper followed the same format as other shifts and had three sections—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics—with 30 questions in each. The exam was conducted in computer-based mode and had a duration of three hours. Each question carried four marks, and one mark was deducted for every wrong answer.
I’m sharing this paper today because many aspirants have doubts about which set to practise when revising previous year papers. While the core structure remains the same across sets, the variation in question patterns and difficulty level is what makes each set useful in its own way. I found that this S2 paper had some unique question styles, especially in Maths, which can really sharpen a student’s problem-solving approach. Also, using actual JEE Main papers helps students avoid surprises in the real exam. It teaches how to manage time across subjects, pick questions smartly, and avoid careless errors under pressure. That’s why solving and reviewing such original shifts is an important part of a strong JEE preparation strategy.

Subject-wise Overview
Physics
Physics was moderately difficult with a good mix of conceptual and numerical problems. Some memory-based questions from modern physics were also included.

Advice: Keep formulas on your fingertips and practise speed calculations. This can save you a lot of time during the actual test.
Chemistry
Chemistry remained the easiest among the three. It had more theoretical questions and was dominated by NCERT-based concepts.

Advice: Revise NCERT line by line and solve previous year Chemistry papers to gain confidence.
Mathematics
Maths was slightly lengthy, but not very difficult. It had a lot of questions from Calculus and Algebra.

Advice: Prioritise accuracy over speed. Getting fewer questions right is better than attempting too many with mistakes.
