The Law and Judiciary Department of the Government of Maharashtra has announced Batch 5 of the Legislative Internship Programme. This six-week programme will be conducted from 27 January 2026 to 6 March 2026 at the Legislative Branch located in Mantralaya, Mumbai.
The initiative aims to give law students direct exposure to the law-making process. The curriculum includes drafting bills and ordinances, preparing rules and notifications, understanding how bills are passed in the State Legislature, and interacting with senior officers of the department. Students will also get opportunities to visit related offices and observe day-to-day administrative work.
Eligibility and Application Process
Eligible students from law colleges and universities in Maharashtra can apply online through the AICTE Internship Portal. The last date to apply is 14 December 2025. Students in the fourth and fifth years of the five-year law programme, second and third-year students of the three-year law course, and LL.M. students can apply. Applicants must be below 28 years of age and must have scored at least 70 marks in MH CET Law or CLAT.
While applying, students must upload their scorecard, marksheets, domicile certificate, and a No-Objection Certificate from their college. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Selection will be based strictly on merit, and only one student from each college will be chosen.
A Total of 12 Students to Be Selected
Batch 5 will include 12 students in total. The allocation is six from the five-year LLB course, four from the three-year LLB course, and two from the LL.M. programme. The department plans to maintain equal representation of male and female candidates.
Internship Conditions and Stipend
Selected students will be required to attend the internship at Mantralaya from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. They will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 after successfully completing the programme. Students must maintain a daily work diary and submit a training report during the final week. Certificates will be issued after completion of the internship and submission of the report, signed by the Deputy Secretary.
