MNLU, Nagpur Welcomes Batch of 2025-30 with Two-Day Orientation Programme

Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, successfully conducted a two-day Orientation Programme on July 31 and August 1, 2025, to welcome and induct the new batch of students for the academic session 2025–2030. The event marked the formal entry of the 10th B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and 4th B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) cohorts into the University’s academic and co-curricular fold.

Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, successfully conducted a two-day Orientation Programme on July 31 and August 1, 2025, to welcome and induct the new batch of students for the academic session 2025–2030. The event marked the formal entry of the 10th B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and 4th B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) cohorts into the University’s academic and co-curricular fold.

The Orientation Programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Chamarti Ramesh Kumar, Faculty Member and Deputy Registrar (Academics), who set an encouraging and enthusiastic tone for the incoming students. This was followed by a detailed presentation on the five-year academic roadmap by Dr. Jagdish Khobragade and Dr. Muktai Chavan Deb, Assistant Professors and Programme Coordinators.

Prof. Raman Tirpude, Assistant Professor of Management and Assistant Registrar (Academics)-I, introduced the University’s distinguished faculty, research associates, and administrative team. Key insights into academic and administrative functioning were shared by senior officials:
• Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Pratap Tiwari elaborated on the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC),
• Prof. (Dr.) Shilpa Jain outlined the Examination Regulations, and
• Dr. Madhukar Sharma described the General Administration framework.

Student welfare and residential life were addressed by Dr. Shaik Nazim Ahmed Shafi, Chief Warden-Boys, and Dr. Nitu Kumari, Faculty Warden-Girls. The University’s robust co-curricular ecosystem was highlighted in sessions led by Prof. Sanya Agarwal on Moot Court activities and Prof. Priti, Assistant Professor of Law, who introduced various Student Committees.

A key highlight of the programme was the inspiring address by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, who congratulated the students on securing admission to one of India’s premier legal institutions. He urged them to embrace the opportunities that MNLU Nagpur offers and acknowledged the unwavering support of Hon’ble Shri Justice B.R. Gavai, Chief Justice of India and Chancellor of the University. Prof. Kumar also recounted the remarkable growth and achievements of the University since its inception, expressing confidence in the bright future of its students.

The Orientation concluded with an interactive session that offered students and parents an open forum to engage with faculty and university leadership. Shri Deepak L. Bhagwat, Registrar of MNLU Nagpur, formally concluded the programme with a Vote of Thanks.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College, a prominent institution committed to the educational upliftment of marginalized communities, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with grandeur and enthusiasm. The event was graced by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Justice of India Bhushan Gavai as chief guests. The ceremony was presided over by Bhante Arya Nagarjun Surai Sasai, President of the Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee, with several distinguished guests including Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Justice Chandrashekhar of the Bombay High Court, and committee members Dr. Kamaltai Gavai, Sudhir Phulzhele, and others in attendance.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Fadnavis praised the college’s 60-year journey, highlighting its crucial role in delivering quality education to the underprivileged. He acknowledged the institution’s humble beginnings with just 5 classrooms, 5 teachers, and 300 students, and its transformation into a well-established center with 6,000 students, 50 classrooms, and 40 faculty members. Fadnavis emphasized that the college continues to reflect the values of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar by being a catalyst for social change and educational empowerment.

Chief Justice Bhushan Gavai, in his keynote address, urged students to embrace the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar and work toward both personal and collective progress. He honored the contributions of pioneers such as Dadasaheb Gaikwad, Dadasaheb Gavai, Dadasaheb Kumbhare, and Sadanand Phulzhele in building the college’s foundation. Recalling historical milestones like the arrival of Dr. Ambedkar’s ashes in Nagpur during the Dhamma Deeksha Silver Jubilee in 1981, Gavai remarked on the city’s rich tradition of unity and respect for Ambedkarite values. He concluded his speech by reciting the powerful poem “Bhim Vandana” written by renowned poet Suresh Bhat.
