The Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in collaboration with the Goa Technology Association, has launched a new workshop series titled “AI for Career Building”. The initiative is aimed at helping non-technology students across Goa gain basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence, practical digital tools, and job-ready skills. The programme is being rolled out through the Education and IT Committee of GCCI and is designed to prepare students for the changing demands of the job market.
I am writing about this initiative because, in today’s job scene, even students from arts, commerce, and general science backgrounds are expected to understand technology at some level. Not every student will become a software engineer, but almost every career now touches digital tools and smart systems in one way or another.
Many students in Goa still feel that AI is only for engineers, which is not true anymore. From marketing and tourism to finance and administration, AI-based tools are already part of daily work. This effort by GCCI and GTA is important because it opens doors for students who otherwise feel left out of the tech wave. It gives them confidence, exposure, and practical skills that can directly improve their chances of getting better jobs after graduation.
What the “AI for Career Building” Programme Is All About
The workshop series has been designed mainly for non-technology students studying in colleges and higher education institutes across Goa. The main aim is to introduce them to Artificial Intelligence in a simple and practical way, without heavy technical jargon.
The sessions will focus on how AI is already being used in everyday work such as:
- Content creation and digital marketing
- Data handling and basic analysis
- Office automation and productivity tools
- Customer service and business operations
- Creative work like design, writing, and media
Students will be taught how to use popular AI-based tools responsibly and effectively to improve their work and employability.
Who Is Organising and Supporting the Initiative
The initiative is being jointly driven by the Education and IT Committee of GCCI along with the Goa Technology Association. Both bodies have long been involved in industry-student engagement and skill development in the state.
By bringing together industry experts, trainers, and academic institutions, the organisers want to bridge the gap between what students learn in classrooms and what the job market actually demands. The sessions will be handled by professionals who are already working with AI tools in real projects.
Who Can Benefit From These Workshops
This programme is especially useful for students from:
- Arts and Humanities
- Commerce and Management
- General Science streams
- Tourism, hospitality, and media studies
- Any non-engineering background
Final-year students and fresh graduates who are preparing for jobs will benefit the most, as the workshops focus on practical, job-oriented learning rather than theory alone.
Why This Initiative Matters for Goa’s युवाशक्ति
Goa has a strong base in tourism, services, creative industries, and small businesses. These sectors are now rapidly adopting digital tools and smart systems. However, many local students still lack exposure to practical tech skills.
This initiative helps in three major ways:
- It removes the fear around AI by explaining it in simple terms
- It gives students hands-on experience with tools they can actually use
- It improves their confidence while facing interviews and workplace challenges
Instead of limiting AI to coding labs, this programme brings it into everyday career paths, which is a big step forward for inclusive skill development in the state.
How the Workshop Series Will Be Conducted
The workshops will be conducted as interactive sessions across different colleges and institutions in Goa. The format will include:
- Live demonstrations of AI tools
- Real-life case studies from different industries
- Basic projects and practical exercises
- Question and answer sessions with experts
Details about dates, venues, and registration are expected to be shared with colleges and students through official channels in the coming days.
