Chapter 13 of Class 10 Science, titled Our Environment, focuses on ecosystems, food chains, and the impact of human activities on nature. It covers important concepts like the flow of energy, biodegradable and non-biodegradable substances, ozone layer depletion, and waste management. The chapter explains how all organisms are connected and how even small changes can affect the balance of nature. This is one of the easier chapters but still important for the exam and for understanding our responsibility towards the environment.
I am writing about this chapter because students often overlook it while preparing for their board exams, thinking it’s more of a “theory-based” or “extra” topic. But this chapter holds high value—not only in exams but in real life. Environmental awareness is no longer optional. In my own school days, questions from this chapter often came in the form of case studies and application-based formats. Understanding the flow of energy and concepts like biomagnification helped me write better answers. Also, the examples and diagrams in the NCERT book make the learning easy and relatable. That’s why having a proper, accessible PDF of this chapter is essential for students preparing for exams as well as various school projects.
