The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JEE Main 2025 B.Tech (Paper 1) exam for Session 1 on 23rd January 2025 (Shift 2) at centres across India and abroad. This highly competitive test determines admissions to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other premier engineering colleges. Candidates who appeared in this shift or those preparing for the next attempt can now download the JEE Main 2025 B.Tech 23 January Shift 2 question paper PDF in both English and Hindi to understand the question pattern, difficulty level, and topic distribution.
I am writing about this because having access to the actual question paper is one of the best ways to plan your next move in JEE preparation. Reviewing the question paper helps students identify their strong and weak areas, analyse question trends, and develop time-management strategies for the upcoming April 2025 session. Moreover, since NTA provides the exam in multiple languages, downloading both the English and Hindi versions helps students from all educational backgrounds practise effectively using the medium they’re most comfortable with.
JEE Main 2025 B.Tech Paper (23 Jan Shift 2) Overview
The B.Tech Paper (Paper 1) of JEE Main 2025 focuses on testing candidates’ understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is held as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and follows the structure given below:
| Subject | Question Type | No. of Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | MCQs + Numerical | 25 (20 + 5) | 100 |
| Chemistry | MCQs + Numerical | 25 (20 + 5) | 100 |
| Mathematics | MCQs + Numerical | 25 (20 + 5) | 100 |
| Total | 75 (attempted out of 90) | 300 |
Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and for every incorrect MCQ, 1 mark is deducted. Numerical questions, however, have no negative marking.
Difficulty Level and Student Feedback
Students who appeared for the 23rd January 2025, Shift 2 paper described it as moderate overall. While Chemistry was the easiest section, Mathematics was slightly lengthy and Physics included several conceptual numerical questions.
Section-wise difficulty level:
- Physics: Moderate. Questions focused on topics such as current electricity, work and energy, and modern physics. A few numerical problems were calculation-intensive.
- Chemistry: Easy. Most questions were directly based on NCERT. Organic Chemistry included reaction mechanisms, while Physical Chemistry had questions from mole concept and chemical equilibrium.
- Mathematics: Moderate to difficult. Topics like 3D geometry, probability, and calculus required time and strong conceptual clarity.
Overall, the paper followed a familiar pattern with a balanced distribution of theoretical and numerical questions.
