Chapter 12 of the Class 10 NCERT Physical Education book, titled Social Health, focuses on how our mental and emotional well-being is linked to our relationships and interactions in society. This chapter highlights how a supportive environment, healthy communication, cooperation, and empathy play a major role in improving the quality of life. It also touches upon issues like bullying, discrimination, and social isolation, and explains how students can help build an inclusive and positive environment.
I decided to write about this chapter because social health often gets less attention compared to physical or academic performance. But from my own experience in school, I’ve seen how students with good social support systems do better in studies, sports, and personal life. Understanding concepts like empathy, inclusion, and emotional safety is important, especially in today’s world where stress and anxiety are increasing among teenagers. This chapter is more than a theory for exams—it’s practical knowledge that helps students become more balanced individuals and better human beings. It also encourages them to be kind, respectful and aware of how their words and actions affect others.
