Final Opportunity Until May 8: RTE Admission 2026 Deadline Extended

An important update has come out regarding admissions under the 25% RTE (Right to Education) quota in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra Primary School Education Department has announced that the deadline for completing admissions for the 2026–27 academic session has been extended to May 8. Previously, this deadline was April 30. However, it has now been explicitly clarified that this is the final opportunity, and there will be no further extensions to the deadline thereafter.

Till now, many parents often delay completing the document verification or admission process until the very last moment. This extension serves as a final opportunity for them. Therefore, it is vital for those who have not yet completed the admission process to take immediate action; otherwise, they risk missing out on this opportunity.

The Department of Education has announced that many parents have not yet been able to complete the admission process. For this reason, the deadline has been extended. Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education, stated that this is strictly a final opportunity, and no further concessions will be granted thereafter. Therefore, it is essential to complete the necessary procedures promptly, without wasting any time.

In accordance with the directives of the Department of Education, students selected under the RTE framework must visit their assigned schools to complete the document verification process and confirm their admission. All these procedures must be finalised by May 8, 2026. No applications or requests will be accepted thereafter.

According to official data, Total seats: 1,05,811; of these, admissions have already been completed for 72,344 students. This means that a significant number of seats still remain vacant, and this additional time has been granted to fill them. So far, 12,518 students in the Pune district have completed their admissions. This figure alone indicates that the admission process has not yet fully concluded, even in major cities.

If your child has been selected through the RTE scheme, do not delay:
Visit the school with the necessary documents, verify all details, and confirm the admission. Waiting until the last day may lead to difficulties due to overcrowding or technical issues.
