Air Wing NCC Begins at Air Force School, Nagpur Ahead of 93rd Air Force Day
Air Force School, Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur, marked a proud moment ahead of the 93rd Indian Air Force Day with the induction of the Air Wing National Cadet Corps (NCC) for the 2025–26 training year.
The induction was carried out under No. 2 Maharashtra Air Squadron NCC, a unit that has been active in Nagpur since 1957. Based at the Institute of Science College, the unit has guided hundreds of cadets toward joining the Indian Armed Forces.
The event was attended by Gp Capt P. Prajesh, Chairman, School Management Committee and Commanding Officer, HQMC (U) Air Force; Wg Cdr V. Deepika Rao, Commanding Officer, 2 MAH Air Sqn NCC, Nagpur; Sqn Ldr Vikash Kumar, Executive Director; WO Amit Kumar Singh, Manager, Air Force School; Bhupendra Bondre, Principal, Air Force School; and WO Nikhil Nishchay, Adjutant, 2 MAH Air Sqn NCC, Nagpur.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, a symbol of knowledge, courage, and the high spirit of the Indian Air Force. After that, the Executive Director and the Commanding Officer addressed the students, speaking about how NCC builds discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of duty toward the nation.
The Headquarters Maintenance Command (HQMC) of the Indian Air Force has always supported NCC training in Nagpur. With the Air Wing now part of Air Force School, the students will get a structured platform to prepare for careers in the Armed Forces. The 2 MAH Air Sqn NCC has already made its mark by performing well in national events like the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC) and continues to inspire other units across the country.
For 2025–26, Air Force School has been allotted 50 Air Wing NCC seats. The first group of 25 cadets has already joined, and the remaining will be enrolled next year. This allotment was given under a special DGNCC policy for Kendriya Vidyalayas, Air Force Schools, and Sainik Schools.
Speaking about this milestone, Principal Bhupendra Bondre said,
“Having the Air Wing NCC at our school is a proud moment for all of us. It gives our students a chance to learn discipline, leadership, and service. More importantly, it inspires those who dream of wearing the uniform one day. With the guidance of the Indian Air Force Maintenance Command, our cadets are ready to fly high.”
