Demand for Education Minister Dada Bhuse Resignation Over the CET-TET Question Paper Leak Issue in Maharashtra

Mumbai: Political pressure has intensified over the leaking of CET and TET exam question papers in Maharashtra. The National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress and the Youth Congress have demanded the resignation of State Education Minister Dada Bhuse.

These organisations allege that the futures of students have been risked by repeated incidents of question paper leaks, and that the political and administrative responsibility for this cannot be slipped away. They have announced that a statewide protest will be launched if the resignation does not take place within seven days.

At a press conference on Monday, NSUI Maharashtra President Sagar Salunkhe and Mumbai Youth Congress President Zinat Shabrin demanded the resignation of Dada Bhuse.

They alleged that the incidents of CET and TET question paper leaks have hurt the credibility of the state's education system. So, they demanded that the Education Minister accept moral responsibility and resign.

The NSUI and the Youth Congress have announced that if the Education Minister does not resign within the next seven days, they will launch a statewide protest in collaboration with various organisations. The organisations declare that a broad-based mass movement is necessary to safeguard the interests of students.

At a press conference, student organisations claimed that the education system is being run on a commercial basis. Despite collecting fees from lakhs of students for various examinations, the students continue to face various problems. It was claimed that although approximately ₹5 crore was spent on a tender related to junior college admissions, around 4 lakh students have still not secured admission.

The government's official response to these allegations had not yet been released.

It is not just Congress-affiliated organisations; Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has also demanded the Education Minister's resignation. Party spokesperson Harshal Pradhan said that the party would stand by the students' movement regarding the TET question paper leak and continue to support the upset in the future.

In this situation, the state government faces several critical challenges: swiftly completing the investigation into the question paper leak, ensuring legal action against the culprits, strengthening security measures to prevent such incidents in the future, and restoring the confidence of the examinees.

If these measures are effectively done, public trust in the education system could be further backed.
