Goa Shipyard Recruitment 2026: 91 Posts, Eligibility and Last Date

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has announced 91 vacancies across 20 categories of non-executive posts. The recruitment includes Technical Assistants, Junior Supervisors, Nurses, Welders, Instrument Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Shipwright Fitters, Painters, Firemen-related safety roles and other positions.

Candidates with engineering diplomas, ITI qualifications, Class 10 certificates and relevant professional experience can apply for suitable posts. The online application process began on 28 October 2026, and the deadline is 27 November 2026 at 5 pm.

This recruitment may interest candidates looking for technical and skilled employment in the shipbuilding industry. One notable feature is the range of qualifications accepted, which means that both diploma holders and ITI-trained candidates can find relevant opportunities.

Most positions require at least two years of related work experience, and some supervisory posts have additional licensing requirements. Applicants should therefore check the exact qualification and experience criteria for their preferred post before completing the online form.

The vacancies have been announced under Advertisement No. 09/2026. The positions include Assistant Superintendent (Hindi Translator), Junior Supervisor (Safety-Electrical), Junior Supervisor (Substation), Technical Assistant in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Shipbuilding, Instrumentation and Civil disciplines, Nurse (Male), Shipwright Fitter, Welder, Instrument Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Khalasi, Safety Steward, EOT Crane Operator, 3G Welder, Painter and Steward-cum-Cook.

Among these, Technical Assistant (Mechanical) has 15 vacancies, followed by Technical Assistant (Electrical/Electronics) with 12 and Technical Assistant (Shipbuilding) with 10. Other positions have smaller vacancy numbers. The recruitment also includes one Technical Assistant (Mechanical) vacancy specifically for the Mumbai office.

The educational requirements depend on the selected position. Technical Assistant posts generally require a three-year full-time diploma in the relevant engineering discipline along with at least two years of experience. Candidates with only a B.E. or B.Tech degree but without the required diploma will not be considered for these posts.

For Welder, Instrument Mechanic and Diesel Mechanic positions, candidates need the relevant ITI qualification and generally two years of work experience. Shipwright Fitter applicants must have the prescribed SSC and shipbuilding-related training or certification, along with relevant experience. The Nurse (Male) position requires B.Sc. Nursing or a qualifying nursing diploma and two years of experience.

Supervisory positions have additional requirements. For example, Junior Supervisor (Substation) candidates need an electrical engineering diploma, a valid 33 KV supervisor licence and relevant experience in substation operations. The Hindi Translator post requires the prescribed Hindi translation qualification and at least two years of translation experience.

The upper age limit is generally 33 years for many posts, although it varies by position. The age and experience cut-off date is 30 September 2026. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates are eligible for three years of age relaxation, while SC/ST candidates receive five years. Other applicable relaxations will follow government rules, subject to the maximum age limit of 56 years after relaxation.

Selected candidates will receive consolidated monthly pay according to their post. The first-year amount ranges from ₹27,200 to ₹41,400, with increases in the second and third years. The appointments will initially be for three years and may be extended by another two years, depending on the company's requirements.

The selection process will include a written examination, document verification and a skill or trade test. The written test may be conducted in CBT or pen-and-paper mode. It will normally include 25 per cent general aptitude questions and 75 per cent subject- or trade-related questions.

Applications will be accepted online only. Candidates must visit the GSL recruitment portal, register, select the appropriate post, enter their personal and educational details, upload the required documents and complete the payment process. The application fee is ₹200, payable online. SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from the fee, as are eligible internal candidates.

The last date to submit the application is 27 November 2026, 5 pm. Candidates should complete the process well before the deadline and retain a copy of the submitted form and payment receipt.
