Maharashtra Law CAP 2026 Registration Begins From 11 June 2026

Important news for students wishing to enrol in the three-year LLB course in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has officially launched the Law Centralised Admission Process (CAP) 2026. The online registration process began on June 11 at 3:00 PM and will continue until June 30, 2026.

Candidates who have qualified in the law entrance examination can now apply through the CAP portal to participate in the admission process for various government, private, and aided law colleges.

The Maharashtra State CET Cell has launched the CAP registration process for admission to law courses. Eligible candidates can now register online, submit applications, upload necessary documents, and participate in the counselling process. The complete counselling schedule will soon be published on the official website.

The Maharashtra State CET Cell has already released the important schedule for Law CAP 2026. According to the notification, the CAP registration process commenced on June 11, 2026, and students can submit online applications until June 30, 2026; the application process began at 3:00 PM. Before this, the Law CET scorecards were released on May 30, 2026, serving as the basis for students to participate in the admission process.

The complete counselling schedule has not yet been released. However, the CET Cell has said that a detailed counselling calendar will be uploaded to the official website very soon. Therefore, students are advised to regularly check the official portal, where any important updates or new guidelines regarding admissions will be made available.

The merit list is the most crucial component of the admission process. According to official guidelines, every eligible candidate who submits the CAP application form within the mentioned timeframe will be assigned a merit number. The merit list will be prepared based on the percentile score obtained in the Law CET and the marks secured in the qualifying examination; the candidates' final merit rank will be determined using these two factors.

A student's merit rank will determine which college they get the opportunity to attend. A good merit rank increases the chances of admission to a reputed law college, improves the probability of securing a preferred college, and makes admission to a welcome course easier. Therefore, it is crucial to provide all information accurately when submitting the application.

Following the completion of registration, the admission process will be carried out in several stages: document verification, publication of the provisional merit list, submission of complaints, publication of the final merit list, choice filling, seat allotment, and admission confirmation. Each stage must be completed within the mentioned timeframe.

The Centralised Admission Process has established a transparent and convenient admission system for students. It eliminates the need to apply separately to multiple colleges, ensures admission based on merit, enhances transparency, and saves both time and money. Therefore, it represents a significant step forward in legal education.

I am writing about this topic because the CAP process is the primary method for admission to law colleges in Maharashtra. Every year, thousands of students participate in this counselling process.

However, many are unaware of how the merit list is prepared, which factors are crucial during admission, and what steps to take if there is a change in their board exam marks. Therefore, it is essential to be informed about these details before participating in the admission process.
