Speed Up Recruitment and Promotion Processes: Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar

Mumbai, August 8: Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar has directed officials to expedite pending recruitment and promotion processes while ensuring that the required manpower is made available immediately to strengthen the state’s public health system.

During a meeting held at the Health Bhavan, Minister Abitkar reviewed various establishment-related matters in detail and emphasized the need to make the functioning of the department more efficient, transparent and result-oriented.

Since the functioning of the Health Department has a direct impact on the health and well-being of citizens, any delay at any level will not be tolerated, Minister Abitkar said. He also called upon all concerned departments to work in coordination and accelerate administrative decision-making so that citizens receive timely and quality healthcare services.

Review of Vacant Post and Recruitment 

The meeting included a review of the current status of recruitment to Group C and Group D posts, as well as vacancies across various cadres in the Health Department.

Minister Abitkar instructed officials to take immediate action to ensure the availability of adequate manpower as per requirements. He also made it clear that the recruitment process should be completed without unnecessary delays.

Expedite Promotion Process 

Various issues concerning employees in the Nursing Officer (Adhiparicharika) cadre, including completion of probationary periods and promotions, were also discussed.

Officials were instructed to ensure that promotion proposals do not remain pending unnecessarily and that the promotion process is completed at the earliest. The Minister emphasized that employees must receive appropriate career opportunities and promotions during their service period.

The meeting also reviewed matters related to the absorption of employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM). Officials were directed to examine the issues faced by healthcare workers in accordance with existing rules and adopt a positive approach while taking necessary action.

Ensure Faster Movement of Files

Minister Abitkar directed officials to fix responsibility at every level to ensure that no case is unnecessarily delayed and that files move through the administrative process quickly.

The meeting also reviewed the ongoing process regarding the determination of the duties and responsibilities of Taluka Health Officers.

Discussions were also held on the process for making appointments through promotion to the District Malaria Officer cadre from among malaria workers.

Encourage Good Work, Take Action Against Negligence

Officials and employees of the Health Department are expected to work efficiently while keeping citizens at the centre of their responsibilities, Minister Abitkar said.

He directed that officers and employees who perform well should be encouraged and appreciated. At the same time, appropriate action should be taken as per rules against those found negligent or responsible for unnecessary delays.

Senior officials from the Health Department were present at the meeting. Minister Abitkar also directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting and to resolve all pending matters on priority.
