CBSE CTET 2026 Postponed: Application Window Reopens

Important updates regarding the CBSE CTET 2026 have been released. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 and reopened the application window for eligible candidates who were unable to apply earlier.

According to the new notification, the online application portal for CTET 2026 will remain open from August 25 to September 1, 2026. Candidates who successfully submitted their forms within the previous deadline do not need to register again.

According to the latest public notice from the CBSE, the application portal for CTET 2026 will remain open from August 25, 2026, to September 1, 2026. The initial application process for CTET 2026 had previously taken place from May 11 to June 10, 2026. This new window offers an opportunity for eligible candidates who were unable to apply during that earlier period.

However, it is important to note one thing clearly: candidates who applied and successfully submitted their forms during the previous application window do not need to register again.

The new application window is primarily aimed at eligible candidates who, despite meeting the criteria for CTET 2026, were unable to submit their applications during the previous registration period. In other words, eligible candidates who did not apply earlier can now complete the application process between August 25 and September 1, 2026.

Before applying, candidates should thoroughly verify their eligibility and the necessary details.

Candidates who successfully submitted their applications for CTET 2026 during the previous application window do not need to fill out the form again.

The CBSE has clarified that the reopened application window is intended only for eligible candidates who were unable to apply during the earlier period. Therefore, candidates who have already submitted a successful application do not need to register a second time for the same examination.

You might be wondering if the CTET 2026 exam date has changed. Yes, the CBSE has postponed the 22nd edition of the CTET 2026 examination.

However, the revised examination schedule has not yet been announced separately. The CBSE has stated that a further announcement regarding the revised schedule will be made after the application window reopens.

Therefore, candidates should keep an eye on official updates from the CBSE until the new exam date is announced.

The CBSE has said that this decision follows a recent Supreme Court judgment, which highlighted the need to provide eligible teachers with a reasonable opportunity to fulfil the legal requirement of obtaining the prescribed Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.

Against this backdrop, the application process has been reopened for eligible candidates who were previously unable to apply.

Those who missed the previous deadline should complete the application process without further delay. The new window will close on September 1, 2026.

On the other hand, those who have already successfully submitted their applications do not need to apply again; they simply need to wait for the release of the revised examination schedule.

Once the new exam date and other important guidelines for CTET 2026 are announced, it is best to follow the official notification issued by the CBSE.
