Delhi Parliament March: Government Holds Talks with Protest Leaders, JP Nadda Appeals to End Demonstration

New Delhi, July 20: Thousands of students and supporters gathered in the national capital on Monday for a march towards Parliament, demanding action over alleged examination paper leaks and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Heavy security was deployed across central Delhi, with police barricading major roads leading to Parliament. As protesters attempted to move forward, clashes broke out between demonstrators and security personnel. Police used batons and other crowd-control measures to disperse the gathering, while several protesters were detained.

Later in the day, Union Minister JP Nadda announced that the government had held discussions with a delegation representing the protesters. In a post on X, he said the talks began at 11:50 a.m. and continued in a cordial atmosphere. The meeting started with verbal discussions, and at around 4:00 p.m., the delegation submitted a written memorandum outlining its demands.

Nadda said the government had carefully listened to the concerns raised by the delegation and appealed to all protesters to end their demonstration and cooperate with the administration in restoring normalcy in Delhi.

The protest has become one of the largest student-led demonstrations in recent months, highlighting growing concerns over the integrity of competitive examinations, education reforms, and employment opportunities for young people.
