Gadchiroli, August 16, 2026: In a significant outreach initiative aimed at connecting students from remote, tribal and Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas with career opportunities in the Indian Army, the Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Nagpur conducted a three-day Outreach Programme across Gadchiroli district from August 10 to 12, 2026.
The initiative witnessed an encouraging response, with approximately 1,500 students participating in a series of lecture-cum-interactive sessions conducted at schools, colleges and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the district.
The outreach covered educational institutions and students from Gadchiroli, Chamorshi, Ashti, Bhamragarh, Hedri and Alapally, taking important information about Army recruitment and career opportunities directly to students in some of the district’s less-connected areas.
Detailed Guidance on Agnipath Scheme
During the sessions, students were introduced to the concept and key features of the Agnipath Scheme. The ARO team explained the opportunities available to young aspirants and provided guidance on the process of joining the Indian Army as WMP.
Students were briefed about the eligibility criteria required for applying, helping them understand the basic requirements and important conditions they need to fulfil while preparing for Army recruitment.
Special emphasis was also placed on the advantages of possessing NCC, Sports and ITI certificates. Students were informed about the provision of bonus marks for candidates holding relevant NCC, sports and ITI qualifications, encouraging them to make effective use of their additional skills and certifications.
Students Guided on Online Registration and CEE
With the Army recruitment process increasingly relying on online procedures, the ARO team provided students with important information regarding online registration and the application process for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) through the JIA website.
The students were guided on the importance of completing the registration and application process correctly and relying on official information while applying. The sessions also covered pay and allowances available to Agniveers, giving students a clearer understanding of the financial aspects associated with the opportunity.
Interactive Sessions Generate Strong Student Participation
The programme was not limited to conventional lectures. Interactive sessions were conducted to encourage students to openly ask questions and understand the recruitment process in greater depth.
Students actively participated in discussions and raised queries related to eligibility, recruitment, examinations, certificates, online registration and career opportunities in the Army. The ARO team responded to their questions and provided practical guidance to help them prepare better for future opportunities.
The outreach programme was conducted by Col Anshit Srivastava, Hav Sandeep and MTS Atmaram Chaudhary, who travelled across the district to interact directly with students and educational institutions.
Outreach Continued Despite Difficult Weather Conditions
The initiative was particularly significant considering the geographical and logistical challenges involved in reaching several remote areas of Gadchiroli. During the three-day programme, inclement weather and floods in certain areas created difficulties for movement and outreach.
Despite these challenges, the ARO Nagpur team continued its efforts and succeeded in covering different parts of the district. The district administration and the Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) community also extended their support for the successful conduct of the programme.
A Positive Step Towards Creating Greater Oppertunities
The three-day initiative served as an important platform for students who may otherwise have limited access to direct information about Army recruitment and career opportunities. By taking guidance directly to schools, colleges and ITIs, the programme helped bridge the information gap between students in remote areas and national-level career opportunities.
The participation of nearly 1,500 students reflects the strong interest among the youth of Gadchiroli in understanding opportunities available through the Indian Army.
The interaction was well appreciated by participating students and institutions, with the programme providing not only recruitment-related information but also motivation and direction to young people aspiring to build a career through discipline, dedication and service to the nation.
The ARO Nagpur initiative has emerged as a positive example of grassroots outreach, bringing information, opportunity and inspiration directly to the doorsteps of students in remote and LWE-affected areas of Gadchiroli.
