Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) received the "Leading Multidisciplinary Education Group of the Year Maharashtra" award at the India@2047 Leadership, Innovation & Global Power Summit & Awards, held at IIT Delhi in August 2026.
Mrs. Vishakha Bhujbal accepted the honour on behalf of the Mumbai Educational Trust; the award was presented to her by Member of Parliament, renowned author, and diplomat Dr. Shashi Tharoor. This recognition acknowledges MET's sustained efforts in providing multidisciplinary education that aligns with the needs of the industry.
The award ceremony was held at IIT Delhi in August 2026. Dr. Shashi Tharoor attended the event as the chief guest and keynote speaker. Mrs. Vishakha Bhujbal received the award on behalf of MET from him.
This award was presented in recognition of the efforts to provide multifaceted education aligned with industry needs through MET's 'League of Colleges'.
At the India@2047 Summit, Dr. Shashi Tharoor highlighted the need to align the activities of various Indian institutions with the country's long-term goals and global aspirations.
Focus was placed on the need for educational institutions, corporate entities, and government bodies to work more effectively towards achieving India's future objectives. The conference also discussed the role of institution-building, reform, and innovation in India's development over the coming decades.
Against this backdrop, the recognition of an educational institution like MET also brings to the fore the connection between education and national development.
Regarding the honour bestowed upon MET, Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, a Trustee of the institution, described it as a moment of pride for the entire organisation. He said that multifaceted education aligned with industry needs would play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India's youth. He also emphasised the responsibility educational institutions bear in nation-building.
Meanwhile, Ms. Vishakha Bhujbal, a senior management representative of MET, remarked that receiving the award from Dr. Shashi Tharoor at a conference focused on India's future held special significance. She highlighted the collective efforts of MET’s faculty, students, and leadership, acknowledging their contributions toward creating a future-oriented educational environment that addresses real-world needs.
The Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) was established in 1989. With the aim of reshaping the educational landscape, the institution has been operating as a multifaceted educational hub.
MET runs approximately 21 educational institutions across Mumbai and Nashik. Its various programs and institutions are affiliated with or recognised by bodies such as the University of Mumbai, the Directorate of Technical Education, AICTE, MSBTE, and the Pharmacy Council of India.
According to MET, the institution also collaborates with various international educational organisations; important among these are the University of London and NCC Education (UK).
MET places great emphasis on creating learning opportunities for students and faculty across various fields through modern infrastructure and a conducive educational environment.
