Maharashtra Chala Shalet Jauya Campaign 2026

Judging a school's quality only based on examination results does not provide a complete picture. Factors such as whether students can read, write, and understand effectively, the availability of necessary infrastructure, and the overall learning environment are equally important. With these aspects in mind, the Maharashtra government is launching the ‘Chala Shalet Jauya’ campaign.

School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse said that the aim is to transform this plan into a statewide mass movement. The plan focuses on three key areas: education, school infrastructure, and the holistic development of students.

The name ‘Chala Shalet Jauya’ translates simply to “Let’s go to school.” However, the objective of this campaign extends beyond only increasing school attendance. Under the Maharashtra School Education Department's plan, the primary focus is to check the ground reality of schools and implement necessary actions.

According to Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, the campaign will emphasise strengthening students' reading, writing, and understanding skills alongside improving school infrastructure. Additionally, values ​​and patriotism will be given importance as integral parts of the education process.

This is possibly the most significant aspect of the campaign. Senior officials from the Education Department are being assigned specific districts and sent to schools to assess the situation on the ground.

The visits are scheduled in three phases: the first on September 8 and 9, the second on September 22 and 23, and the third on October 7 and 8. Officials have been allocated specific districts, and their command is to oversee the campaign's implementation and evaluate the schools' requirements.

It has been announced that District Planning Committee (DPDC) funds will be increasingly utilised to address issues such as incomplete infrastructure work or the need for new facilities in many schools.

Additionally, there are plans to enhance coordination between Central and State government schemes. Proposals have also been made to use public participation, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, and special funds allocated for 'aspirational talukas' for school development projects.

This means an effort to tap into multiple funding sources together to meet every school's requirements, rather than relying only on the School Education Department's regular budget.

With the aim of balanced development, the Maharashtra government has identified 10 districts as 'expanded aspirational districts'. The responsibility for monitoring each district has been distributed among senior officials of the Education Department:
