Law Students Gain First Hand Experience of Justice Delivery Process at National Lok Adalat

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College students visit District Court and Nagpur Bench of High Court for practical training in Alternative Dispute Resolution

Nagpur, September 12: Students of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College, affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, visited the National Lok Adalat at the District Court, Nagpur, and the Nagpur Bench of the High Court on September 12, 2026. The visit was organised as part of practical training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Around 100 students participated in the initiative with the permission of the District Legal Services Authority, Nagpur.

During the visit, the students interacted with each panel of the National Lok Adalat and learned about its functioning, the process of settlement of cases, and the distinction between an adjudicated decision and a settlement. The students also had an opportunity to interact with Principal District and Sessions Judge M. S. Aazmi. Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Justice Pravin Unhale, was also present on the occasion.

The students observed the proceedings of cases involving theft under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, money recovery claims, compensation matters related to the National Highways Authority of India, and motor accident compensation claims. They also examined records and documents relating to cases disposed of during the day, gaining practical insight into the functioning of the justice delivery system and dispute resolution mechanisms.

The visit was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ravishankar More, Director of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College, with the support of senior faculty members Dr. Praveena Khobragade and Dr. Adhara Deshpande.

Visit coordinator Ms. Darshana Malani, along with Adv. Sanjay Brahme, Adv. Raman Chimurkar, Ms. Archana Pranjale, Dr. Chinmayi Nimbkhedkar, Ms. Shikha Gupta, Adv. Mrunal S. Hiwase, Adv. Gargi V. Chaubey, Adv. Rajlakshmi Jhode and Mr. Prajasattak Gajbhiye, remained present with the students throughout the day and extended their guidance and support.
