Maharashtra School Students to Get Military Training Soon? Dadaji Bhuse Gives Big Update

A new type of training programme for school students in Maharashtra may soon be launched. The state's School Education Minister, Dadaji Bhuse, has directed officials to expedite the process of introducing military training. Plans are underway to enlist the assistance of retired Army personnel for this training.

Initially, the Minister has proposed conducting these sessions on Saturdays under the 'Anandadayi Shanivar' (Joyful Saturday) programme. However, the plan has not yet been rolled out across the state; preparations for its implementation are currently in progress.

Bhuse has proposed selecting a specific day of the week for this programme. According to him, military training could be conducted every Saturday under the 'Anandadayi Shanivar' (Joyful Saturday) programme.

This would create an opportunity to conduct the training as a co-curricular activity without placing undue pressure on regular academic classes. However, the Minister has directed that the final plan be formulated after taking into account the school schedule and working days.

The scope of this plan is not proposed to be limited only to military-style training; the 'Joyful Saturday' programme also includes plans to provide students with training in Yoga, self-defence, and Karate.

In other words, these Saturday activities could cover discipline-oriented training alongside sessions focused on physical fitness and personal safety.

The inclusion of self-defence training is particularly important, as it serves as a practical skill that can raise students' awareness regarding their own safety in daily life.

A decision by the School Education Department alone is not sufficient for the successful implementation of this plan. Focus has been placed on coordination between the School Education Department and the Sainik Welfare Department to ensure the necessary expertise and coordination required to conduct a programme like military training.

Bhuse has instructed officials to ensure that the entire plan is done in a disciplined and effective manner. In other words, priority is being given to establishing the planning, coordination, and discipline mechanisms before the programme begins.

A specific launch date has not yet been announced. Currently, officials have primarily been instructed to speed up the process of launching the program, and review meetings regarding the planning have taken place.

Therefore, there is no reason to view the situation as if military training has already begun in Maharashtra schools. Rather, preparations and planning for the launch are underway, and administrative work is progressing with the aim of starting it soon.
