The deadline for admission to professional technical courses in Maharashtra for the 2026-27 academic year has been revised once again. The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced that all necessary admission formalities must be completed by September 14, 2026. This revised deadline applies to both the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) and institutional-level admissions.
So, those currently in the process of securing a seat through CAP or the institute-level vacancy round have very little time left. The official admission portal also indicates the period from September 8 to September 14 for admissions against vacant seats following the CAP and institute-level rounds.
The Maharashtra CET Cell has revised the timeline for technical admissions for the 2026-27 academic year. This change has been implemented in accordance with admission related directives issued by the Supreme Court and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
So, the revised schedule now covers institute-level vacancy admissions alongside the CAP counselling process. The official admission portal currently features links regarding CAP Round-IV seat allotments, vacancy details, and institute-level (ACAP) admissions.
In other words, opportunities for institutional-level admissions remain available to fill seats that stayed vacant after the conclusion of the main counselling stages. At this stage, interested candidates should keep track of college-wise vacancies and the admission notices issued by the respective institutes.
The most important date is September 14, 2026; eligible candidates must complete the admission process by this date.
Candidates who have secured a seat through CAP but have not yet completed admission formalities must finalise the necessary procedures either by visiting the institute or via the online process in accordance with the prescribed rules. This same deadline applies to institutional-level admissions as well.
The CET Cell's engineering admission portal lists the schedule for institute level admission activities regarding seats remaining vacant after CAP as September 8 to September 14, 2026.
Therefore, delaying the admission process with the intention of completing it later could be risky.
For those who have already secured a seat but wish to opt for a different college or course, or have decided not to take admission, it is crucial to keep September 13, 2026, in mind.
Completing the cancellation of the allotted seat by this date ensures eligibility for a full fee refund. Therefore, if obtaining a refund is a priority, it is advisable not to wait until the final admission deadline of September 14.
Once the cancellation deadline has passed, eligibility for a refund may change. So, one should review the cancellation rules based on their specific situation.
Some seats may remain vacant after the end of the various rounds of CAP counselling. Information regarding these vacant seats is being published on the admission portal for candidates.
The official engineering admission portal of the Maharashtra CET Cell features important links such as "Vacant Seats after CAP IV (ACAP)," "Provisional Vacancy Position for CAP Round-IV," and institute-wise allotment details.
Therefore, candidates who are still looking for a college should check the current vacancy position rather than depending only on previous CAP allotment results.
