Mumbai/Nagpur: A delegation of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Maharashtra, met several ministers in the Maharashtra Government to discuss a wide range of pending issues concerning students across the state. The delegation submitted memorandums related to higher and technical education, school education, medical education, public health, social justice, OBC welfare, and skill development, urging the government to take timely action.
The delegation met Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, School Education Minister Dada Bhuse, Minister of State Pankaj Bhoyar, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar, Minister of State Meghana Bordikar, Social Justice and Special Assistance Minister Sanjay Shirsat, OBC and Bahujan Welfare Minister Atul Save, and Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
Before the Higher and Technical Education Department, ABVP demanded timely declaration of university examinations and results, resolution of technical issues in the CET admission process, effective implementation of the free education scheme for girls, regulation of fees charged by private universities, filling of vacant faculty positions, extension of scholarship benefits to new professional courses, effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), restoration of open student union elections, promotion of research and industry-oriented training in technical education, resolution of issues related to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, and timely disbursement of scholarships.

The delegation urged the School Education Department to complete teacher recruitment at the earliest, conduct TET and TAIT examinations regularly, establish a robust examination system to prevent paper leaks, complete the Class XI admission process on time, improve infrastructure in rural and remote schools, strengthen government and Marathi-medium schools, ensure timely scholarship distribution, and enhance mental health and career guidance facilities for students.
Before the Medical Education Department, ABVP sought regulation of medical examination fee hikes, resolution of issues concerning CPS students’ final examinations, implementation of government-prescribed stipends for interns in private medical colleges, strengthening of infrastructure, improvement of working conditions for resident doctors, time-bound registration for paramedical students, creation of a ragging-free campus environment, and greater transparency in the rural service bond policy.
The delegation also submitted demands to the Public Health Department, including filling vacant posts, streamlining the rural service policy, ensuring the safety of doctors and healthcare workers, strengthening healthcare services in rural and tribal regions, ensuring the availability of essential medicines and medical equipment, and effective implementation of reserved posts for AYUSH graduates.
Before the Social Justice Department, ABVP demanded construction of government hostels, resolution of technical issues on the MahaDBT portal, timely scholarship disbursement, an increase in the number of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship seats, regular release of Swadhar Scheme funds, improved health facilities in girls’ hostels, expansion of BARTI Fellowship seats, and restoration of priority for BSW and MSW qualifications.

The delegation also urged the OBC and Bahujan Welfare Department to ensure timely disbursement of scholarships and fee reimbursements for OBC students, construct new hostels, provide regular benefits under welfare schemes, complete overseas scholarship procedures on time, extend scholarship benefits to students admitted through spot rounds by issuing a Government Resolution, and implement a time-bound mechanism for all welfare schemes.
To the Skill Development Department, ABVP proposed the introduction of modern technology-based courses in ITIs, modernization of workshops and laboratories, filling of vacant posts, granting Class XII equivalence to ITI students, strengthening industry partnerships, timely disbursement of scholarships and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) benefits, expansion of hostel facilities, and special amenities for female students.
During the meetings, the ministers acknowledged the issues raised by ABVP and assured the delegation that separate meetings would be held with senior departmental officials to address each matter in a phased manner.

The delegation comprised ABVP Vidarbha Region Minister Devashish Gotarkar, West Maharashtra Region Minister Atharva Kulkarni, Devgiri Region Minister Dr. Varunraj Nannaware, Konkan Region Joint Minister Aashi Gupta, Mumbai Metropolitan Minister Prashant Mali, and National Executive Member Maitreyee Khedkar.
Reacting to the meetings, ABVP Vidarbha Region Minister Devashish Gotarkar said the organisation had presented a well-researched and fact-based representation of students’ concerns before the government. He welcomed the positive response from the ministers but asserted that ABVP would not stop at assurances. He stated that the organisation would continue to pursue the issues related to scholarships, admissions, examinations, hostels, teacher recruitment, medical education, and skill development until they are resolved, and would launch statewide agitations if necessary.
