Digital Revolution in Education in Maharashtra: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates IDEAL Centre

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a state-of-the-art IDEAL (Interactive Digital, Experimental, Administration, and Learning) Centre at the PM Shri Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School in the Vahal area of Panvel, Raigad district, as part of the ‘Shala Praveshotsav 2026’ action.

The primary objective of this action is to promote technology-driven education in government schools and further enhance the quality of education. The project aims to make the learning experience more engaging and effective for students through modern digital infrastructure and interactive learning methods.

The full form of IDEAL is Interactive Digital, Experimental, Administration and Learning Centre. It is a modern educational centre where technology is used to make teaching and learning easier, more engaging, and more effective.

Through this centre, students can study using audio-visual content, digital tools, and interactive teaching methods, rather than relying only on textbooks.

This state-of-the-art IDEAL Centre offers a range of digital facilities for students. These include multilingual audio-visual lessons, interactive learning tools, online assessment systems, e-desks, e-podiums, interactive whiteboards, and computer-based learning systems. These facilities will make the students' learning process more enjoyable.

One of the key features of the IDEAL Centre is its multilingual education system. Learning materials will be available in English, Marathi, and Urdu for students from grades one to eight. This will enable students from diverse linguistic backgrounds to receive an education in their own languages.

Uninterrupted internet service is still unavailable in many rural areas. Keeping this issue in mind, the IDEAL Centre has been designed to operate in offline mode for approximately 90 per cent of its functions; consequently, students' studies will not be blocked even if the internet connection is weak.

Twenty-four computers have been installed at the centre for student use, and a separate computer setup has also been provided for teachers. This action will enhance digital skills, facilitate computer education, enable online assessments, and expand opportunities for acquiring technical knowledge.

Speaking at the initial ceremony, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that digital education and reforms in the education sector are transforming government schools. He noted that technology-driven education boosts students' interest in learning and improves educational outcomes. Furthermore, such initiatives play a crucial role in restoring parents' confidence in government schools.

I am writing about this because the use of technology in education is rapidly increasing, and the importance of digital education is greater than ever before. Such initiatives are crucial for ensuring that students in government schools also benefit from modern, technology-based education. The IDEAL Centre will not only provide digital classrooms but also assist students in acquiring the skills necessary for the future workforce.
