Krystal Solar Secures ₹138 Crore Rooftop Solar Project in Maharashtra

Significant steps are currently being made in the renewable energy sector in Maharashtra. Krystal Solar Energy SPV, a subsidiary of Krystal Integrated Services Ltd, has secured a ₹138 crore project to develop rooftop solar infrastructure across the state's government hospitals and medical colleges. Under this proposal, grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic systems will be installed at various healthcare institutions; this will not only help reduce electricity costs but also facilitate the utilisation of eco-friendly energy.

Given that the demand for electricity in government hospitals is consistently high, the adoption of solar power in these facilities will serve a dual purpose: reducing operational costs on one hand, and increasing the use of clean energy on the other. In my view, projects of this nature have the potential to bring about major positive transformations in the future, benefiting both healthcare services and the environment.

According to government data, the total value of this rooftop solar project is approximately ₹138 crore. It is regarded as a significant investment within Maharashtra's public healthcare sector. The project has been awarded to Krystal Solar Energy SPV, in which Krystal Integrated Services holds a 49 per cent stake. The company has stated that this marks a major milestone for them within the renewable energy sector.

Under the terms of the agreement, the scope of responsibility extends far beyond the mere installation of solar panels. These responsibilities encompass Design, Engineering, Supply, Installation, Testing, Commissioning, Grid alignment, as well as Long-term operation and Maintenance. In essence, the company is responsible for the entire project lifecycle—from its inception through to its ongoing maintenance.

Under this initiative, rooftop solar systems will be installed at government hospitals, medical colleges, and affiliated health education institutions. This is expected to have a particularly significant impact in facilities characterised by high electricity consumption.

Maharashtra is already taking significant steps in the fields of infrastructure, EVs, and green energy. This rooftop solar project is viewed as an integral part of that ongoing trend. Rooftop solar systems are rapidly gaining popularity as they reduce electricity bills and carbon emissions, prove cost-effective in the long run, decrease reliance on conventional power sources, and are particularly effective for government buildings. In my opinion, an uninterrupted power supply is absolutely critical in facilities such as hospitals; therefore, solar systems are especially beneficial in such settings.

In government hospitals, electricity is primarily utilised for operating theatres, ICUs, laboratory equipment, lighting, and cooling systems. If the cost of electricity consumption can be reduced through the use of solar power, the resulting savings can be reinvested in enhancing healthcare services. Sanjay Dighe, CEO of Krystal Integrated Services, stated that this order will further strengthen the company's presence within the renewable energy and infrastructure services sectors.
