Maharashtra HSC Result 2026: 89.79% Pass; Girls Once Again Outperform Boys

The results for the Class 12 (HSC) examinations in Maharashtra have finally been published, and this year's outcome is quite positive. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced that the overall pass percentage stands at 89.79 per cent. As is the case every year, girls have once again outperformed boys, a trend that is being recognised as a significant development within the education sector. This announcement brings an end to the long wait for millions of students and parents.

We are writing this report because these results represent more than just a list of scores; rather, they serve to chart the course for the future. College admissions, career choices, and everything joints upon these results. Therefore, it is crucial to analyse these statistics so that we may understand not only the pass percentage itself, but also the underlying trends behind it.

This year, specifically in 2026, a total of 14,44,713 students registered for the HSC examinations. Of these, 1,433,058 students actually appeared for the exams, and 1,286,843 successfully passed. These figures indicate that both the participation and success rates were quite impressive, although some challenges still remain.

According to this year's results, the pass rate for female students stood at 93.15 per cent, whereas for male students, it was 86.80 per cent. This disparity is not only a statistical variation; rather, it represents a consistent trend. In my view, the driving forces behind this success among female students are consistency, focused attention, and a profound sense of responsibility toward their education. This trend has been evident over the past several years, signalling a positive transformation within the education sector.

An examination of pass rates by stream provides an even clearer picture: Science: 96.44%, Commerce: 87.03%, Vocational: 82.74%, ITI: 81.78%, and Arts: 78.02%. The Science stream has once again delivered the best results, which also explains why it remains the first choice for so many students.

An analysis of results by division reveals the following: Konkan Division: 94.14% (Highest), Pune: 91.25%, Amravati: 90.92%, Nashik: 90.72%, Mumbai: 90.08%, Kolhapur: 89.97%, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: 88.68%, and Latur: 84.14% (Lowest). It is clearly evident here that the quality of education and performance in certain regions is significantly better than in others.
