Maharashtra Higher Education Department Sets Monthly Grant Deadline for Aided College Salaries

The Maharashtra Directorate of Higher Education has instructed divisional-level officials to ensure that grant requirements for salaries and other eligible payments in non-government aided colleges are submitted within the prescribed monthly schedule.

The direction covers aided arts, commerce, science, law and social work colleges, along with agricultural universities. It concerns regular salaries of teaching and non-teaching employees as well as other payments covered under the grant system.

Grant demands to be submitted by the 20th

Under the directions, monthly grant requirements are to be submitted to the Directorate by the 20th of every month, with the required approval and supporting documentation.

The purpose is to facilitate timely availability of grants through the government’s BDS (Budget Distribution System) and support the monthly salary payment process.

The instructions also cover remuneration payable to teachers working on a clock-hour basis, earned-leave encashment and eligible medical reimbursement.

Salary payment targeted for the first of the month

The Directorate has emphasised that regular salaries of teachers and non-teaching employees of the covered institutions should be paid on the 1st of every month.

The monthly grant process is therefore structured around ensuring that the required financial demand reaches the authorities ahead of the salary payment date.

Details of payments to be submitted

The instructions also require colleges to submit details of payments made towards clock-hour teaching remuneration after the relevant payments are completed.

Such information is to be consolidated institution-wise and submitted to the Directorate on a monthly basis.

The directions were issued by the office of the Director of Higher Education, Maharashtra State, Pune, under the signature of Dr. Shailendra Deolankar, Principal Director of Higher Education.

The measures are aimed at maintaining a regular monthly grant process for institutions dependent on government assistance for salary and other eligible expenditure.
